It is difficult to know the cause of your elevated bilirubin without doing additional tests. Check SGOT, SGPT, Lipid profile along with bilirubin. However, if all the other liver tests are normal, it is possible that you have a condition called gilbert's disease. In this condition, which occurs in 5% of the population, there is an isolated increase in bilirubin. The disease does not progress and is not associated with other liver conditions.
